Supporting Regenerative &
Organic Practices for
Food, Health, Life
Growing vibrant soil is the foundation of all our practices and philosophies at Strange Rhythms Urban Farm. Established in March 2024, we spent the first year focused on soil health. Because of the rocky, dry Nevada dirt, most of our production is in raised beds.
During our second year we added 7 new raised beds full of our homemade compost, began cover cropping in the back yard, and increased production of medicinal plants like dandelion, lavender, chamomile, calendula, yarrow, roses, and oregano. We also:
-Grew over 749 pounds of food- not counting flowers, gathered seeds, and food for chickens, bees, birds, worms, cats, animals, and other pollinators.
-Participated in 4 local farm and specialty markets.
-Harvested 130 mini-pumpkins.
-Baked and sold or gifted over 55 loaves of sourdough.
-Registered as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation.
-Added 4 sweet chickens to our flock.
-Installed a thriving and spicy bee hive.
-Held my first Farm to Table event as part of a Women's Retreat.
-Canned over 100 jars of food!
All of our work includes using:
-
permaculture techniques
-
regenerative agriculture
-
organic principles
-
biodynamic rhythms
-
and healthy soils initiatives
T0 date we have raised over 1,275 pounds of food, thousands of flowers, fed dozens of families and community members, and innumerable insects, birds and other pollinators!
This year in 2026 our goals are to grow over 1000 pounds of food, sell 100 produce baskets and loaves of sourdough, develop local AND global collaborations, keep the bees thriving, sell at 10 markets, and create 4 Farm to Table events and celebrations.
Strange Rhythms is my answer to the changing seasons of our lives and times. From climate action to perimenopause support to heart arrythmias and brain surgery to social revolution to empty nesting to increasing access to nourishing food and communities, we are grounded in love, justice, activism and connection.
Please join us on the farm soon!
